November Fitness Tips

Now that Fall is in full swing for most of us, and Winter has hit for some of us, taking walks is just not an option; it's too cold! If you fall into that category there are other things that you can do to get around that and still get a good work out without paying an arm and a leg on a gym membership. If you're not lucky enough to live in an apartment complex that has a gym that you can use, or if you're like me and are just too embarrassed to go in there because there is always some skinny girl in there who can run on the elliptical for over an hour and make it look like nothing, there is still plenty of things that we can do around the house to burn those extra calories!

If you have a stair case in your house, start by marching in place for 5 minute to warm your muscles up. Once you have done that step on the first stair then back down. Then go up two stairs and back down. Repeat this until you get to 10 stairs (or until you just can't do it anymore!). Don't push yourself too hard. If you are in pain, please stop. You don't want to pull anything. This is a great wait to build you leg muscles, and you burn a ton of calories this way!

Another thing I love to do when my husband isn't around is dance. I turn up the stereo really loud and just cut loose. It burns calories, it's a great stress reliever, and it's just fun! I know it sounds silly, but it's great theropy for the mind, body, and soul. It builds muscle, burns calories, and it really does relieve stress. I know you're probably rolling your eyes at me right now, but I promise, if you try it sometime you'll laugh at yourself at first, but then you'll start to have fun!
